LGBT Streamers You Should Watch - DistractedElf

You should keep your eyes on these streamers.

Over the past few years, Twitch has become the gaming giant that the community orbits around. It has allowed people to make a career out of their passion for gaming.

However, there is a small issue with the Twitch-sphere and that's the lack of noticeable LGBT+ streamers being promoted through the site. The Twitch community is dominated by straight guys (and a few gals) who often use slurs and language which alienates LGBT+ viewers.

So it's time to shake up the meta! Here's the first feature of LGBT streamer you should be watching. And there are many more to come.

DistractedElf

DistractedElf is a gamer, LARPer, and D&D player whose streams include a variety of games, from Heroes of the Storm to Rimworld. She is also a part of a Twitch D&D series called Blade in the Dark with 3 of her friends. The second season came to an end last year. Don't fear though - you can still catch all the Blade in the Dark episodes on her Twitch, which I highly recommend.

In 2012 Elf faced one of the toughest challenges of her life when she came out as trans. While her more vocal viewers were supportive of her coming out, the subscriber numbers still dropped. People left without even saying a word. 4Chan also started to raid her streams when she came out with the sole purpose of wanting to make her cry.

Despite this, she has grown massively in the past 6 years and it's a pleasure to see how far she has come.

DistractedElf has a pure passion for games and I could not recommend her streams enough.
